July will mark a truly remarkable milestone for H2R Business Solutions. After all, it was 5 years ago that Jill Zappitelli decided to leverage her extensive experience in human resources to begin her own company.
“In July 2016 — with a final push from colleagues, friends, and clients — I founded H2R Business Solutions,” explains Jill. “I also purchased a small boutique HR firm and merged the two together. Today, we help small- to medium-size organizations with all things human resources and COVID-related so that they can focus on running their businesses. We’ve become the companies’ HR managers, only on a fractional basis.”
At H2R Business Solutions, there is never a dull moment. The team is in constant demand, working on policies, harassment investigations, COVID legislative requirements, testing, HR audits, ensuring rights of employee relations issues, compensation structures, workflows for layoffs and terminations, return to work, training, health and safety, and so much more. Yet at the end of the day, Jill always has the satisfaction of knowing that her services and those of her team are making a difference in manufacturing, professional services, tech, retail or another industry. “We love it! As the people issues and right sizing roll out to our client employees, we make sure that everyone is treated fairly. Employers and employees need support now, more than ever!”
In the past two years, with COVID-19 impacting so many businesses, H2R Business Solutions has stepped up to provide solid guidance to many of their clients. “We appreciate the opportunity to support our clients, especially when they’re undergoing such difficult and unprecedented times,” notes Jill. “Our clients depend on us to have the most up-to-date resources regarding mandatory daily COVID screenings, working from home policies, travel programs, COVID vaccine policies, and so much more. We provide updated materials, host client Zoom call discussions, offer policy guidance, and invite special guest speakers to provide even more in-depth knowledge and best practices.”

From her humble beginnings with 1 employee, Jill has grown the firm to an amazing team of 10 professionals. For her, the success of the company should come as no surprise, considering her hard work ethic. Yet Jill also acknowledges the team she assembled and the strength of their abilities. “I am so proud of myself, finally,” says Jill. “I have never said that, and I am so proud of the women I have on my team and the work we provide to our clients.”
To meet the ever-changing needs of clients, H2R Business Solutions has continued to evolve. In fact, the organization recently partnered with AEC Safety Solutions to launch a new division of H2R titled Alliance Disability Solutions. “Along with my partners Melanie Shantz and Tyler Scott, we are truly excited about this new full-services offering for Disability Management and Claims Management,” says Jill.
With the growth and burgeoning success of the H2R Business Solutions, Jill was awarded the Woman of the Year Award—Entrepreneur with Rogers KW Oktoberfest on May 4. “It’s truly an honour—and I’m still in shock that I won,” says Jill. “I was up against an amazing group of 11 other women who have made a huge impact in our community and their businesses.”
While much of Jill’s focus is on her business, she cherishes her time with family. “I live in a very welcoming community with my sons, Carter and Austin, and our little girl Rylee—an English bulldog pup mix who acts as the CFO, Chief Furry Officer, of H2R Business Solutions,” says Jill. “The weather is getting nicer again, and I can’t wait for a time that we can travel together once again and gather with friends, family and colleagues.”
